It was a chilly winter day when you decided to take a relaxing stroll around the neighborhood. The snow was still lightly falling, and small little specks of it continued to ice your skin. You tightened your coat before reaching one hand out. A flake of snow slowly descended onto the palm of your hand and melted, a gentle smile appearing on your face.

You very recently moved to London – just two days before to be exact. You owned a flat in a cozy neighborhood which you so far enjoyed your stay at. One of your neighbors who appeared to be Spanish welcomed you yesterday and you invited him in. He seemed very cheerful, and kept going on about tomatoes and his Italian flatmate named Romano. He also mentioned that another one of your neighbors, Alfred, was throwing a party tomorrow night and said you should go! You agreed, seeing you didn't have any other plans and that it was a good way to meet new people.

You were pulled out of your thoughts when a moving figure caught your eye, and you stopped walking for a few moments to see what it was doing. You squinted your eyes in attempt to see better. It was Antonio, appeared to be pulling some sort of treasure chest out of a cement wall in the construction site. Opening the chest, he pulled out what looked like…a board game? He flipped it over once or twice and ran away. You just shrugged and stuffed your frozen hands into your pockets.

You walked around the frigid outdoors for a bit more before deciding to head back home. On your way there you realized that not only Antonio's house was right next-door to yours, but so was Alfred's. Guess it won't be as long a walk as I expected, you thought.

Later that night, you were just about ready to leave your house. You pushed open the front door and made your way to Alfred's. Normally, you arrived late to parties and tried to be as anti-social as possible, but something made you change your mind about this one. Instead, you decided to arrive early.

You knocked on his door and it swung open revealing a grinning Alfred. "'Sup?!" He paused for a second, not realizing who you were "Haven't seen you around…you must be the new girl!" he shouted as his face lit up in realization. "Pretty hot, too!" You were too embarrassed to answer and couldn't think of one anyway, so you just looked down at a fixed point on your shoes and shifted your position. "Well, you can just come in and sit on a couch or something. I'm still hooking up the stereo." You nodded and followed Alfred inside.

Not really my scene… you thought to yourself, frowning as you looked around the house. The room was dark and covered in iridescent lights, and the whole place just seemed too… loud, for you.

Looking side to side, you found two armchairs across from each other, separated by a small round coffee table. It was a nice cozy corner, away from all the bright lights and music.

One of the armchairs was already being occupied by someone. He had the most gorgeous green eyes which reminded you of forest trees that flourished vibrant, ever-green leaves in the spring. He had quite the eyebrows, though their thickness seemed to fit in perfectly with his scruffy blond hair which framed his face nicely. Overall, you were definitely admitting to the fact that he was good-looking, and there was no doubt about it.

You sat in the armchair across from him and read the title of the book he was reading. "Sherlock Holmes." you read in an amused tone of voice.

He seemed to take notice of you and lowered the book. "Have you read the books?" he asked, voice coated with a London accent.

"Oh, only about a hundred times..." You grinned, making it purposely sound as if it were no big deal. He seemed delighted and a lot more interested, and put the book on the table. He studied you for a second before replying.

"Say, I don't believe we've met before. I'm Arthur Kirkland. Do you mind if I ask you for your name?" he asked, head tilting a bit to the side.

"No not at all!" you hastily replied "I'm _______, _______ [last name]."

"Ah, so you're the new neighbor. Well I can tell you right now that you are much more pleasant than the one who just moved out. That bloody French Frog…" he muttered on about some Frenchy named Francis, and you tried to hold back a giggle.

After he was done with his small rant, his attention turned back to you. "Oh, I'm sorry you had to hear that, love." He reached for your hand and you gave it to him, not exactly sure of what he was going to do. "It truly is a pleasure to meet you, _______" he raised your delicate hand to his lips, placing a gentle kiss upon it. You could feel the blush rising up on your cheeks and were hoping that he couldn't see it. You lowered your head and shyly smiled, looking at him through your eyelashes.

You hadn't exactly realized how long it's been, but it's not like you actually cared. You were having a pleasant conversation with the kind Brit, and didn't really want it to end anytime soon.

"So you live here with Alfred?"

Arthur grunted upon the mention of Alfred "Sadly, Yes. We're step-brothers, which would explain why he's American. A few years ago when my dad moved in with his mum they practically kicked us out and told us to find a place to stay at."

"Well that's not very kind; it's actually quite the opposite for me. My parents were having a difficult time letting me go. They didn't want to face the fact that I'm old enough to care for myself. I was finally able to show them that I'm independent enough to live on my own, though." You explained

"So you chose England? Why?" asked the curious Brit. You shrugged.

"I've visited a few countries as a child and I remember really loving England. Everyone thinks I'm strange for thinking so, but I enjoy the poor weather."

Arthur chuckled lightly and said, "Won't be for long, not when you're living in a country which is rained on almost every day. I normally just stay in and have some tea; I can't stand coffee! I don't understand how Alfred can possibly drink it black."

"Me too! I just can't bear it. Though, I do love all sorts of tea. Especially-"

"Early Grey" you both said in unison, causing you both to chuckle.

"How about I go brew some tea?" Arthur offered, already pushing himself up from the armchair.

"No, you don't have to, really-!"

"I insist!" Arthur cut you off and you gave in, smiling at him. He returned the smile as he walked off to the kitchen.

Just as Arthur entered the kitchen, the doorbell rang. It was still early and the party didn't start yet so you wondered who it could have been. Alfred hurried over to the door and greeted a very cheerful Antonio, who seemed to be dragging along a pissed off Romano in one hand, and that board game that he was with earlier in the other. He soon noticed you and grinned.

Antonio walked over to you with Romano following suit. "So, you're ______? The bastard wouldn't stop talking about you" said the obviously irritated Italian, nudging Antonio.

"I could say the same about you." you replied and Romano crossed his arms.

Your attention soon turned to the board game which Antonio just set on the table. "Um, why did you bring a board game?" you asked, not understanding the concept of bringing a board game to a party.

"I thought it could be fun to play!" he chirped. He unfolded the wooden box to reveal the board.

Arthur walked back in the room with a small tray of two teacups. When he saw you were with that damned Spaniard, his face immediately fell. "What are you doing here?" he frowned.

"Ah, Arturo! We were about to start playing!  Would you like to join us?" offered Antonio, completely ignoring Arthur's question and tone of voice.

"Not really-"

"Come on Arthur, it won't be long. Besides, it could be fun!" you said. He sighed and gave in.

"Alright, but only one game!"

You smiled and nodded before calling Alfred over. "Yo, what's up?"

"We're playing a board game, here." You pulled out the small eagle game token and handed it over to him. You then looked at the small box of tokens and realized each piece in there was the national animal of each player's respective country. Well, except for yours of course. What a coincidence you thought.

Arthur picked out the Lion, Antonio the bull, and Romano took the wolf. You looked to find a cheetah lying alone in the small square. You mentally smiled, the cheetah being your favorite animal.

Right when you were all about to put your pieces on the board, some sort of force pulled the tokens out of everyone's hands and set them on the starting points.

Everyone stood silent, waiting for an explanation.

"...Must be some sort of magnetic force." you finally spoke up. This answer seemed to satisfy the others and the attention went back to the board. "So who's first?"

"I am, but we have to read the instructions first." said Arthur, picking up the dice. He turned the board so that the words faced him.

"Jumanji. A game for those who seek to find, a way to leave their world behind. You roll the dice to move your token. Doubles get another turn. The first player to reach the end, wins." he began to read aloud.

"Awesome, dudes! I'm the hero, so I'm definitely gonna win!" exclaimed Alfred. Arthur just rolled his eyes and continued reading.

"Adventurers BEWARE: Do not begin unless you intend to finish. The exciting consequences of the game, will vanish only when a player has reached Jumanji and called out it's name." he finished.

You took a sip of your tea and watched Arthur roll the dice. A five and a six, eleven. The same 'magnetic force' that attracted the tokens also moved Arthur's token across the board without him even laying a finger on it. Words soon appeared in the sphere at the center of the board.

"What the fuck is that supposed to mean?" muttered Romano, obviously not noticing his own hands beginning to fade away.

You screamed in horror when you saw that all five of you began to vaporize. Soon the others mimicked your action, Alfred being the first to do so. Romano just continued to swear like a sailor as everyone was sucked into the game.

You woke up with a jolt, shivering from the chilly liquid that was just poured onto you. "What the fuck was that for?!"

"WILSON!"

Bellowed a man who was stomping towards the man in front of you, apparently named Wilson. He had a barrel filled with water in his hands, and seemed very pissed. He splashed the water in the barrel onto two people who were apparently lying next to you and shoved the barrel with full force at Wilson's stomach. Wilson in return, doubled over in pain.

"Why did ye use the rum! Ye son of a-"

"Where the bloody hell am I?!"

"That was sooo not cool, dude!"

Only then did you decide to taste the liquid that you were soaked with, and indeed it was rum. Then, the sensation of something continuously rocking back and forth sank in. You were almost afraid to ask, but you forced yourself to.

"...Where are we?" you questioned, your voice just above a whisper.

The man's attention turned to you, and a huge grin was plastered on his face as he chuckled devilishly.

"Welcome Aboard The Crimson Serpent."
My first fanfiction, ever! How'd it turn out? I feel like Arthur is really out of character...

Wow, very creative! Are some of the riddles from the board-game itself? Because they have an actual board-game of it, believe it or not!
